Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and Lou Gehrig's disease (ALS) are incurable diseases. And yet, we have experience in treating these two diseases.
One case involved a 70-year-old female patient with ALS who initially couldn’t move her extremities and had swallowing and speech difficulties. After treatment, she regained limb strength and improved speech and swallowing.
A second patient was a woman in her thirties with both rheumatoid arthritis and MS, experiencing severe pain. She had taken steroids for one year to control symptoms, including debilitating headaches and vertigo. Long-term steroid use caused heart problems and acid reflux, forcing discontinuation. Her doctor recommended Dr. Frank Huo’s clinic.
After reviewing medical history and physical examination, the diagnosis was “yang failure and retention of poisonous waters.” Treatment involved herbal medications resulting in dramatic improvement — she was like a new person.
The patient’s history included consuming cold foods, preferring ice water and raw vegetables, and maintaining an irregular schedule. According to Dr. Huo, this depleted kidney yang energies, causing coldness to take root and resulting in demyelination. The brain is a space of pure yang and can only be harmed by coldness.
“Wind, Cold, Wet cannot harm people individually. The place where disease is apparent is where the qi is weak. The root of all disease is weakness in qi or deficiency in yang.”
Treatment combines energy repletion along with herbal remedies. Energy repletion affects both post and pre-natal energies to harmonize yin and yang to great effect. The goal is to strengthen kidney yang, dispel pathological dampness, and restore the body’s ability to maintain the myelin sheath.
